Nanopowrimo Day 7 – Another day, another format, and a nod to Amergin

Today’s prompt was to write a poem in which each line except the last takes the form of a single, declarative sentence. Then, the final line should take the form of a question.

I saw the raven cross the full moon

I saw the moon hide her face behind thick dark clouds

I saw the clouds break with cold summer rain

I saw the rain swell the river

I saw the river wash away the wooden bridge

I saw the bridge carried out to sea

I saw the sea drape itself in mist

I saw the mist creep over the road

I saw the road branch between city and wood

I saw the wood turn red in autumn fire

I saw autumn’s fire frozen over before the snow

I saw the snow marked with the tracks of the raven

I saw the raven in the tree

I saw the tree shiver in the wind

I saw the wind cross the place of the dead

I saw the dead smiling back at me

What did you see?
